The international conference of LIFE NATURA THEMIS Project which has EDI expert Christos Georgiadis as a coordinator. The project ,which is supported within the EU LIFE program, has key objectives as following;

  • Awareness on the part of authorities that environmental crime is a separate criminal law field and there is individual responsibility for preventing and remedying environmental damage
  • The skills cultivation of interrogative clerks in preventing and effectively prosecuting environmental crime and taking on the best possible compensation for damage to the environment.

With the title of “International Perspectives on Preventing Wildlife Crime”, conferences was held at the date of 23 – 25 November 2018 in Athens and hosted well-known specialists as well as scientists from all around Europe working on the legal protection of wildlife. In total, the conferences included 26 oral presentations on a) legislation regarding wildlife crime and its implementation, b) the illegal trafficking of wildlife fauna and flora, and c) the role of the LIFE Natura Themis project in tackling wildlife crime.
